Willard Dynes Obituary

Willard went home to the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was 83 years young. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodie. Willard is survived by a brother, Vallard; sister, Ginger; son, Mike; three daughters, Melanie, Debbie and Laurie; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren- all of whom love him very much. Willard was born in Alamosa, Colorado. He graduated from Adams State College, served in the United States Army, worked at the Alexander Film Company, and was a Civil Servant at ENT Air Force Base, the Air Force Academy and Space Command. He was an integral cog at the Broadmoor World Arena; working in the snack bar (where he met his wife), skate shop, skate guard, driving the Zamboni and eventually, supervising multiple crews as the head usher. He also served as a deputy on the Broadmoor Security Force. He continued working at the Colorado Springs World Arena and the Pikes Peak Center as a crowd control manager. He was a member of the United States Figure Skating Club and served on the board of both the Broadmoor Curling Club and the Colorado State Curling Club. He was also a great fan of CC Hockey and broomball. Willard was a gentle, determined, honorable man with a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. "Mr. Broadmoor World Arena" was a positive force in the lives of everyone whose path he crossed. He will always be known as the guy who would go out of his way to help anyone, even if he did not know them. I am sorry that I could not attend the funeral. I appreciate all the work that his closest friends and family did to create that one-of-a-kind Zamboni experience that he would have enjoyed immensely. :-)

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. May the love of those around you, help you through the days ahead. I loved listening to his stories - Willard has seen it all. He always had a positive attitude...even on his down days. He was the most thoughtful, helpful, kind, loving person I have ever met. I will miss his phone calls, laughter and jokes. But most of all, I will miss sharing our closing statement to each other, "I Love You". Rest in peace Willard. You're Home now.

What a wonderful friend Willard was to me. We had great times together. I will always remember the look he had at his surprised 80th birthday party I gave him at the World Arena. He will definitely be missed. Willard, my dear friend, thank you so much for being part of my life. Now it's my turn to say what you always said to me when ending our conversations on the phone, "Bye, Bye".
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. God Bless you. R.I.P. MY DEAR FRIEND.
