William "Bill" Kent Barton, 78, passed away 7th Oct 2023. Bill was a resident of CO since 1983. He served three years in the army as a communication specialist in Vietnam and Germany, changing careers to become a Mechanical Engineer for the Air Force Academy, retiring in 2008. He held a PE License and a Certified Energy Management license.
Bill was born 3 Apr 1945 to Bruce and Josephine (Sanders) Barton in Wichita, KS. On 5 Sept 1970 he married Linda Mattson in Wichita, KS
Bill enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, fishing, spending time at the family cabin, and golfing.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda; his brother, Edward; six adopted grandchildren: Sara, Emily, Elizabeth, Antero, Erik and Kristine; and three great-grandchildren: Myron, Alora and Declan who will dearly miss their Opa. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 3 nephews, 2 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, and 2 great-great-nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on December 19, at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
Interment will be arranged after service in Wichita, Kansas. Flowers and arrangements are encouraged. Please no potted plants.
