William Briesenick Obituary

Bill, a 32-year resident of Colorado Springs, reluctantly relocated to Portland, Oregon, to receive help managing diabetes, which he'd battled for 15 years. He succumbed to kidney failure on February 24, 2012. Bill was born September 17, 1950, to Erma and Allan Briesenick in Somerville, NJ. His WWII Army veteran parents used her nursing and his G.S.A. management skills to raise their 3 Boomers, relocating to PA, NY, and IL in turn. Bill sidelined as a beautician, his first career, once he joined the food/beverage trade. From 1976-2000, he held various positions at The Broadmoor, Olympic Training Center, Red Lion/Doubletree, Bon Apetit, and Colorado College. He worked winters catering in Phoenix. Bill lovingly cared for his mother until her death in 2001. Sister Ruth and Father pre-deceased Mom. Bill leaves a host of friends, plus sister/caregiver, Jean, numb with loss. So much hilarity and natural counseling talent died, except in memory. Friends recall, "He was so funny! He can't be gone." Sadly, his beloved lab, Brutus, rejoined Daddy 5/30/12. A future Celebration of Life will be held in COS.

I was stunned by this news. Bill was one of the best I ever worked with, and truly cared for the people he worked with. A fierce friend who would do anything for you, with a wry sense of humor. The world is poorer without him. I am truly truly saddened. Sleep well, Billy. You earned it.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was such a kind man and I always enjoyed visiting with him when I would do his travel arrangements.
