William "Bill" Joseph Cassidy, age 88, a resident of Colorado Springs passed away on November 7, 2021 at St Francis Medical Center, with family at his side. Bill was born March 15, 1933, East Boston, Massachusetts to Leo and Alma Tassinari Cassidy. As a child Bill spent time with his Grandpa Tassinari at the race track, where his love for horse racing was born, culminating in him training to be a jockey. This training was interrupted by the Korean War. After attending high school in Pawtucket, RI, Bill joined the US Navy in October 1951 to fight in the Korean War, where he saw duty on a Destroyer. Upon serving four years in the US Navy, he returned to Rhode Island to work in the construction field. Bill returned to the military; joining the US Air Force in September of 1956. That same month he met the love of his life, Marilyn (Lyn) Graves, and they married December 15, 1956. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1975, Bill and Lyn, along with friends, bought the Scoreboard Lounge on E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs, CO. After a short career as a business owner, Bill returned to the construction field building custom homes. His final career was working for the US Air Force as a civilian at Schriever AFB, retiring a second time in 1993.

Bill was a life long athlete, and sports fan of all New England teams. He and Lyn were long time members of Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Bill and Lyn enjoyed following the thoroughbred race horse circuit and traveling; especially to see family and friends from their time in the military. Bill's family was a priority and he ensured they got to experience his favorite childhood beach area; Narragansett, RI.

In 2001 Bill and Lyn moved to Florida for several years, enjoying friends and family that had also relocated to Florida. They returned to Colorado Springs in 2006.

Bill is survived by his four children; Shawn Cassidy, Regina Cassidy, Thomas Cassidy, and Christina Cassidy, his grandson, Chance Cassidy, his granddaughters Grace Cassidy and Sierra Cassidy, and two great-grandsons; Finn Cassidy and Oliver Cassidy. He is also survived by his brother, Bernie Cassidy, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Lyn, two brothers and a sister.

Bill will always be remembered for the love of his family, all things Irish and Italian, his loyalty to friends, love of a rum and coke, his beloved Red Sox, playing sports, and coaching football.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made in William Cassidy's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, ILL 60601.

Visitation will take place Sunday, 14 November 2021, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Celebration of Life is scheduled for 15 November 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life. Burial will be at Fort Logan at a date in December 2021.

Dear Cassidy Family,
So sorry to hear of your dads passing. We met your dad when Lynn ( your mom)started doing our taxes in 1976. He always had a great sense of humor and very welcoming. May God wrap his arms around each of you and give you comfort.
God Bless you all...
