Dear Patty and family, I was sorry to hear this week of Bill's passing in January. I trust you have been surrounded with family and friends during this difficult time. I always had the utmost respect for Bill. I admired the way he lived life to the fullest and seemed ready for any adventure. My deepest condolences

As a child Bill was our pastor and my dad Wendell Smith´s friend. At least that is how I remember it. I have fond memories of our church time on flintridge and Bills name comes up often as the minister I will I could find as an adult. Over the years I have shared so many stories about the times we attended church with you guys. He will be missed and I´m sorry I wasn´t able to track you guys down when we moved back to Colorado.

Bill, while often self-doubting and quite humbly human, lived on this side of heaven with a recognizable spirit in service to Jesus Christ. His kindness, safe non-judgmental presence, compassion and empathy for lost and broken strangers, his generosity where a need arose and his unwavering loyal love for friends and family were a model for us to steer by on our own journeys. Particularly Bill loved Patty whom he adores now eternally as he vowed to do before God when they were kids long ago.

Bill would be the first to confess his own doubts and human difficulties. Yet when with him one could clearly see that Bill´s servant´s heart and demonstrations of grace and virtuous character authenticated his profession of faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He is home now and we will rejoice to be with him again.

We have good memories of Bill from Woodmen Valley Church over the years we served there. Patty, we had always admired you and today pray for you only as another widow can. God bless you in your loss. I know your family will be there for you.

Bill and Patty are our friends. They both inspire us in our marriage, and our personal walk with Jesus. It's hard to imagine the numbers of people who have been discipled by Bill over his many years in ministry and who now confidently claim Christ as their savior. Today, we celebrate Bill's life.
