William Garrison Obituary

William Charles Garrison, 72, of Colorado Springs passed away October 6, 2013. He was born in Goshen, Indiana. Forty-five years ago he married Lee Garrison, the love of his life, and the two became one flesh. The love Bill and Lee had in the beginning grew with each passing year and never diminished. In fact, they loved each other so much, they married again in a renewal-of-vows ceremony.

Bill was a mechanical engineering laser technician during the golden years of Hewlett Packard and also worked for Agilent Technologies. He loved his job and was proud of the work he did. The code he wrote and the lasers he defined and assembled are still in use to this day. His brilliant mind was instrumental in perfecting the gold mixture used in HPs printing process, and HP flew him to Costa Rica to both learn and teach.

He has left behind a heart-broken wife, Lee Garrison, grieving daughter, Doralynn Kennedy; grieving grandchildren, Kaytee Garrison, Luke Kennedy, and Megan Moreno; great-grandchildren, Kullen White and Amathyst Campbell; sisters, Lyn Gerber and Lisa Bakanowsky; step-mother, Edna Charles; brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, friends and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Holly Moreno, his mother and father, Bill Charles and Ruth Stump Garrison, in-laws, Nellis and Dora Kennedy, and other family and friends. He was loving, kind, funny, and brilliant. He was the total package and the real deal. He will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him, and he will never be forgotten.

Heaven is surely celebrating the arrival of William Charles Garrison, while those left behind are mourning and remembering the husband, father, Papa, relative, friend, and colleague they loved and respected.

For Papa:
Papa was the strongest, most thoughtful man in my life. There wasn't a personal problem I couldn't bring to him that he couldn't help me through. The advice he gave me is advice I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and is also something I will pass on to my son. His knowledge, his work ethic, the way he cared for our family, is the ideal model of how I will forever and always live my own life. My Papa was more of a Father Figure to me than an actual grandfather. He raised me from the time I was born. From my first steps, to my first words, to my first boyfriend and heart ache, to the loss of my mother, to my first child. He has been there every step of the way. I will never forget his discipline, sense of humor, or his love. I will miss him forever, but will NEVER forget the wonderful memories, and I will cherish him and carry him on my heart forever. I love you Papa, thank you for making me the person I am today!!
