William Higgins Obituary

William D. Higgins, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1968, passed away October 26, 2012. He was a Security Officer in the aerospace industry. William was born on July 10, 1931 to Delbert and Vaude Higgins in Cleveland, Ohio. He married Betty Louise Hammonds on September 3, 1963 in West Virginia. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed horses and loved his four dogs. He is survived by his son, William D. Higgins, Jr.; daughter, Karen L. Higgins; two step-sons: Jon S. Hollon, and Timothy E. Hollon; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Becky Heimann; a son, Dave Hollon; and a sister, Helen Higgins. A visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905. Online Condolences: ShrineOfRemembrance.com

Sorry to hear the passing of Mr. Higgins. I was his and Miss Betty's next door neighbor on Coronado Drive several years ago. A wonderful couple.
