William "Billy" Douglas Howell was born in Gates County, North Carolina on September 13, 1938, to John Darious Howell and Margaret Louise Russell. He enlisted in the military at 17 and proceeded to serve active duty in the Air Force for 30 years before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He achieved numerous commendations during this time. After retiring from the military in 1986, he worked in Human Resources for PRC, retiring from the work force in 2001.
Billy loved to play golf, gamble, and enjoyed spending time with his friends over drinks and cards. He loved his dogs, and his Cabernet, and could grill a mean filet.
Billy had one brother, Johnnie (deceased in 2020) and a sister, Patricia, who lives in Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Kay Howell, of 32 years, who passed on October 2, 2021. He is survived by his 4 children; Lisa (Tony), Pamela, Christopher (Stephanie), and Kelly (David); 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren (with another on the way, due this August).
He was remembered by most who crossed his path, was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10:30 am, at Evergreen Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am and a graveside burial with military honors.

The Buckley SFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences and our gratitude for Chief Howell's service to our country in the Air Force. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley SFB at 720-847-6693. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
