William Johnson Obituary

William "Bill" R. Johnson, Sr. died on June 4, 2011 in Colorado Springs. He was born on November 6, 1922 in Rifle, Colorado to Roy and Ruth (Pitman) Johnson. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor K. Johnson and three brothers. He is survived by four children, Helen Johnson of Portland, OR and John, Roy and Bill of Colorado Springs, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Bill's loves in life were his beloved wife of 66 years, his painting and sculpting, fly fishing , and Colorado. Bill was a World War II Coast Guard veteran of the Pacific campaign and a United States Civil Service retiree. He devoted many years to drawing, painting and sculpting art reflective of his western heritage with many of his pieces in homes in Colorado Springs and other cities. He was great supporter of and participant in the ministries of his parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Marian House Soup Kitchen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on June 9th, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2030 West Colorado Avenue. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Marian House Soup Kitchen or a charity of giver's choice.

I have no doubt that there was a very joyful reunion in heaven between Uncle Bill and his brothers who had passed before him. I shall mourn his loss but celebrate his homecoming.
