William Jones Obituary

February 16, 1929 - October 23, 2008 Bill was born February 6, 1929 in Jamaica, New York to Elmer and Anna "Winnie" Jones. Bill passed away October 23, 2008 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill moved to Colorado Springs in 1954 and was a partner in the Cotton Jones Watson Insurance Agency. After retirement, he moved to Marco Island, Florida where he could pursue his lifelong passion for salt water fishing. When he could no longer see the markers to go way out in the Gulf of Mexico to fish, he sold his boat and moved back to Colorado Springs. Fishing was his passion. Before moving to Florida, he and several fishing buddies would go to Baja, Mexico every year to fish. This tradition continues; Bill went for forty-five years. Bill had other hobbies besides fishing. He liked to garden and build furniture. He also enjoyed traveling. When he no longer had the strength to put to physical hobbies, he read and did cross-word puzzles to keep his mind active. Bill will be remembered for his positive attitude and his sense of humor which he kept until the very end. He is survived by his wife, Louella and three children, Deborah (Reeves) of Helena, MT, Cathy (Irons) of Helena and William Bartlett Jr.of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by three step children Karla Heard (Price) of Colorado Springs, Michelle Heard (Lewis) of Helena, MT and Sean Heard of Colorado Springs. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday November 1, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Home Cascade Chapel. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, please make a donation in Bill's memory to Habitat for Humanity, 2105 E. Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
