William Laviolette Obituary

January 28, 1932 - January 4, 2008. William " Bill" J Laviolette passed away January 4, 2008 at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. Bill was born in Brooklyn New York on January 28, 1932. At the age of 17, he decided to join the circus. He eventually became a world renowned trapeze artist and was one of the first to complete a triple in the U.S. Bill was then drafted into the United States Army. This would begin a 23 year military career of service to his country. Throughout his military career Bill earned varies medals including Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 devices, Vietnam Cross of medal Gallantry w/Palm and Good Conduct Medal w/7th Award. Upon his retirement from the Army, he was involved with and had a rolein opening The Air Force Academy Visitor Center and continued his role as Manager. It was during this time he met his wife Maureen, who survives. Bill had the distinction of being the first civilian to be married in the Cadet Chapel. In addition to his wife, Maureen, Bill is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and Alicia and two grandsons who always looked forward to the amazing tricks Grandpa had up his sleeve. Bill lived a wonderful life and touched the heart of everyone he met. He was a successful husband, father and friend whose heart was full of love and laughter. He will be truly missed by all. We would be honored to have family and friends join us on Friday, January 11 2008, 10:00am, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado for a burial salute with Full Military Honors.
