William Meyer Memoriam

It has been a year since we lost him. It is hard to believe because in so many ways the pain feels like yesterday. I have spent time being sad, time being angry, and time trying to make it make sense. I have learned a few things a long the way.

First, it will never make sense and life is forever changed. I know that I am who I am because of him and I am so thankful that he was my dad! For all who knew him, we are better off for it.

His blue eyes and warm smile brought us such joy. I have learned that my time is better spent being thankful for the years that we had him rather than sad for the years that we will not. Which is exactly what he would want. My journey through grief has not and will not always be easy but I am comforted by knowing that he lives on in our hearts and memories. I can carry on his traditions, hard work, and love for the family that he had built.

will always miss him with all of my heart. In his honor, for this Christmas and all those to come, raise a Miller Lite, hug your loved ones, and remember him!

I cannot process that it has already been a year since you left this earth. My heart has been shattered and many days I feel like breaking. If it were not for my promise to you, to live each day to it's fullest I don't know what I would do. I love you more than words can ever say. I wish I had said them when you were here. I love you and this poem says what my heart can't put in words. Love yah bunches, your pistol!

Not Enough Time

The time we had, Dad,
Wasn't nearly enough
To pack in an entire
Lifetime of love.

There are so many questions
That I need answers to,
But now that you're gone
There's no way to ask you.

But there are still photos
To remember you by,
Each time I look at them,
I still want to cry.

They say grief is easier
to bear as time goes by,
But the doesn't stop me
from wondering why?

Why my dear, sweet dad
Was taken so soon,
When he was my guiding star,
My sun and my moon.

There are no answers
To a question like this,
So I'll cherish your memory,
And mourn the years we'll miss.
