William Odell Obituary

Colonel William “Bill� Odell passed away May 2, 2009 in Montrose, Colorado. Bill was a pilot in the United States Air Force, he helped run the family advertising company in the east after retirement and authored books, including about his time in the Night Flyers. He was 93 years old. William Charles Odell was born September 7, 1915 in Chicago Illinois to Emery and Marie (Wilhelmine) Odell. Bill joined the United States Army, volunteered for the Army Air Corp and it eventually became the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of Colonel and flew with the Night Flyers during World War II. He was able to marry his loving companion Caroline Agnew. Bill is survived by his wife, of over 68 years, Caroline of Montrose, Colorado; children Carolyn (Tim) Jensen of Ridgeway, Colorado, Susan (Al) Scott of Mansfield, Ohio, daughter in law Pam Odell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Emery and Marie Odell and a son William “Chuck� Odell. A service of remembrance will be held in Col. William Odell’s honor at 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 9, 2009 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful� Chapel. Entombment will be private. Memorial Contributions may be made to Mountain States Children’s Home at P.O. Box 1097, Longmont, CO 80502-9912.
