William Reed Obituary

William Earl "Bill" Reed on June 11, 2014 was called upon by our Lord and Savior.

Bill was born to Sandell Reed Sr. and Eva Mae Reed on October 26, 1939 in Glenn Rogers, West Virginia. William MSG (R) Reed served a humbling commitment to 48 years of service. 28 years with the United States Army serving two tours to Vietnam with valorous distinction. William was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in combat.

Bill then continued his distinctive service working directly with the Soldiers and their families who continue to provide our nation the freedoms through their service. William's love of service was unwavering. 20 years of additional commitment serving with the Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation which ultimately helped establish Ft. Carson's world class athlete program, deployment ceremonies, and reintegration ceremonies of our world's finest war fighters. William advised and supported commanders with great pride, knowing he and his wife were still providing a service that ultimately supported readiness and strong family teams.

Bill was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Mentor and friend to many. He will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Martha Reed. Bill and Martha devoted their lives to each other March 9th 1989.

Martha,
You and Bill are very special to our family. Coaching, teaching, scolding and laughing are dear memories of you. Bill was like a papa to Tony and Marion since theirs was far away. We wipe away a tear but still keep a smile. We love Bill and we will see him again. We love you, Martha and are praying for your peace. You both are Angels on earth and we, who have been in your watch, are so blessed!
