Beloved son of John and Iris Sandefur passed away on July 5, 2025 at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John and Brian and his sister Elizabeth. He is survived by many loving family members and friends.
He spent his working career in Kearney, AZ as an open pit miner in the copper mines. He returned to Colorado Springs, the city of his birth, upon his retirement.
William loved his Harley Davidson, biking and hiking. He read his prayer book and bible daily. Later in life he got a flock of chickens and geese and planted a large vegetable garden. He introduced many school children to the joys of caring for birds, who he called his girls.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on August 6, 2025 at 11:00AM. His wake will follow at Grace and St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to a charity of your choice.

Billy always called me "Sissy" when we were growing up. Later in life when I would see him, he would still call me Sissy, it was very sweet. Rest in peace Dear Cousin! How awesome it must be to reunite with your family in heaven!

As I sit here and reflect on our family time together over the years, I still chuckle at some of the things only Bill would do, for example showing up at our door in the middle of the night, (Bill) I went to get a pack of smokes and decided to go for a drive. He drove from Kearney AZ to Florence Co. We all visited and he slept for a couple of hours, I got up made breakfast and discovered he was gone. I call his cell and he's was in New Mexico. I'm sure everyone has crazy stories.
You marched to the beat of your drum. I can only imagine the time you are having with the family. You are missed. Thanks for continuing to be my brother in-law.
