William Simpson Obituary

William A. "Bill" Simpson passed away September 27, 2011, at Pikes Peak Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born August 31, 1920 to Aletha and William Avery Simpson, Sr. in Sidney, Kansas, North of Tribune. Sidney no longer exists. He graduated from Greeley County High school in 1939. He served his country in WW2 in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He enlisted May 1942 and returned to the United States November 1945. He married Martha Ann Liggett on December 31, 1943. They had one son, Rick. Bill was a banker at the First National Bank for many years until he and Martha moved to Colorado Springs, where they were both involved in banking. They lived for 20 years in De Funiak Springs, Florida until they returned to Colorado Springs. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Martha Jane Simpson and great granddaughter, Shannon Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann, son, Rick (Susan), 2 grandchildren, Tron (Lisa) Colorado Springs and Mason (Lauren) New York City and 4 great grandchildren, Anthony, Cassandra, Ford and Brody Simpson. Bill was involved in many community activities including Rotary International. He was a pilot and flew many medical emergency trips. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
