William Traill Obituary
Former Construction Cluster Chairman and teacher - Gr. Lowell Tech HS, Tyngsboro, MA
YORK, Maine -- William J. Traill, 66, died Friday, July 11, 2014. He was born June 13, 1948 a son of William F. and Shirley (Robertson) Traill.
He grew up in Everett, MA and attended Everett High School where he graduated with the Class of 1966. After high school he became a member of the Local 12 Plumber and Gas Fitters and remained a member of the Union for 48 years. He received his Bachelor's from Salem State and his Master's from Fitchburg State.
He taught at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica, Whittier Regional Vocational High School in Haverhill, and most recently Greater Lowell Technical High School where he was a teacher and Construction Cluster Chairman before retiring in 2013.
He then was an adjunct professor at Fitchburg State College. He was also a New England trainer for OSHA, and trainer for IAPMO. He also taught for the Boston Building Trades Apprenticeship Program and was a member of the Local #12 Apprentice board for many years. He was a member of the Mass Assoc of Vocational Administrators (MAVA), and the Mass. Vocational Association (MVA).
Bill sang with the Contutti vocal group in Portsmouth NH. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, gardening and cooking. Most of all, his love of life was spent being with his family and friends. He had a strong love of life and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Traill; his wife, Eileen C. Traill; two sons, William Traill and wife, Lynda, Jeffrey Bachelder; three daughters, Lynn VanEtten and husband, William, Kristin Lanzi and husband, Paul, Kelly Moniz; two brothers, Dennis Traill and wife, Christine, Kevin Traill and wife, Joyce; two sisters, Judith Monagle and husband, John, Deborah Aldrich and husband, Mark; 15 beloved grandchildren, Callie & Shaye Traill, Kaley & Samson Bachelder, Madison, Tess, Grace, Sascha and Holden Van Etten, Gina, Christopher, Paul and Jessica Lanzi, Hunter and Torrey Moniz; sisters-in-law, Carol and Tom Fini, Maureen and James McKenna, Nancy Mosher; brothers-in-law, Edward and Thomas Mosher. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Cosmo DiBiase.
TRAILL -- Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 5-8 pm on Wed., July 16 at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, ME. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Thurs. July 17 in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Ln., York, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William J. Mrs. Traill i was a friend of Bills, we were both instructors at Local 12, I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I would have attended his service but I just read in the Local 12 newsletter of his passing. My heart and prayers go out to you & Bills family. Frank Shea

I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was a wonderful coworker and friend at GLTHS. I have fond memories of our daily lunches (Dining with Dave) in the Artisan Restaurant at the school.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a wonderful man. I first met Bill at the Boston Building Trades APP program where he was my instructor. Later, I was lucky enough to have him teach me at Local 12 and then IAPMO. He will be sorely missed. Too bad I never got to hear him sing. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
