William Walsh Obituary

William J. Walsh, husband of Dorothy L. Walsh, died June 7th. He was born in 1922 in Creston, Iowa (Union County), to William J. and Helene C. (Weber) Walsh who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and three children: William J. Walsh of San Diego, CA, Stephen J. Walsh of Woodland Park, CO, and Martha Walsh Dolan of Caledonia, MI; six grandchildren: Eva Marie Walsh, John William Walsh, Nicole Marie Walsh, Michael Christopher Dolan, Robert Francis Dolan, and James Patrick Dolan. He received bachelor and master degrees from the State University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA and a doctorate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. Dr. Walsh was a university professor for some forty years, retiring from Michigan State University in 1986. He served as a teacher, researcher, author and consultant within the United States and abroad. He was awarded scholarships and contracts with more than a dozen countries worldwide. He was an Army veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theatre, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church in Woodland Park, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the church or charity of your choice.
