William Walters Obituary

Bill leaves his wife and best friend, Dona after 63 years of marriage. Their sons Mike and Chris and their spouses have lost a terrific Dad. Four grandchildren and six greats all have lost their beloved "Peeps". Wonderful memories will keep his spirit alive for all of us. Bill's birthplace was Marion, Ohio where he was a star athlete at Marion Harding High and played baseball for Ohio Wesleyan University before entering the Army Air Corps. He was a B-17 flight instructor and had his B-29 crew ready for overseas when the war ended. He came back to Marion and became Plant Manager for Plant City Steel and later retired to Plant City, Florida. In retirement he received his broker license and sold real estate. Golf was an important part of his and his family's life and was proud of his tournament wins and had a rare "double eagle". Bill and Dona have lived in Colorado Springs since 2002 and have been blessed with family love and care. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Parkmoor Village and the nurses on the 1st and 3rd floors. Also Odyssey Hospice for making Bill's final journey easier. A memorial service will be held at Sunrise Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd. at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity.
