Willie Edward Casselberry, 87, of Colorado Springs, passed away on March 20th, 2020. He was born on May 19th, 1932 in Caddo Mills, Texas. He was born to the union of Willie Casselberry and Allie Rector. He lived in Colorado Springs for 53 years, spending his childhood and his youth in the State of Texas. During his military career, Mr. Casselberry was stationed in Ft. Leonard Missouri, Ft. Hood, Texas and Ft. Carson, Colorado. Willie was married to Virginia L. Cannon. They got married on September 9th, 1954 in Greenville, Texas. Virginia went to her heavenly home few years ago.
Mr. Casselberry was a very special gentleman. He joined the Army and served for 25 years. His rank was E7 and with a Bronze Star he achieved numerous awards and acknowledgments. Some of the highlights of his military life were: Vietnam War, Korean War and two tours in Korea. He was a member of the Masons. Willie enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, going to casinos and attending entertainment events. He also worked 20 years in Alaska as a project manager for the Alaskan Pipeline.
Willie Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Casselberry and Allie Rector and his wife, Virginia L. Cannon.
He leaves to cherish his memories to two daughters, Kim L. Samuels and Vicki L. Wyche of Colorado Springs; his son, Charles E. Cannon of Los Angeles, California; his brother, Larry Casselberry (Amanda) of Greenville, Texas; five sisters, Rebecca Hawkins of Denver, Colorado, Jessie Lee Stiggers of Greenville, Texas, Frances Pitts of Greenville, Texas, Myrtle Lee Mack of Greenville Mack of Greenville, Texas and Brenda Mack (Eric) of Greenville, Texas; and three grandsons, SugarRay P. Wyche, Blake E. Casselberry-Samuels and Stanley T. Wyche-Young.
His visitation will be held on April 2nd, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors. His funeral service will be held on April 3rd, 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors located at 1104 S. Circle Drive. Interment will be held at Memorial Gardens located at 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Condolences may be shared with family by visiting www.angelusfuneraldirectors.com.
