Wilson Haughton Obituary

Wilson W. Haughton, age 82, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2012. He was a 44 year resident of Colorado Springs. Wilson was born August 23, 1930 in Washington County, Pennsylvania to the late William and Olive Haughton. He was educated at the University of Pittsburgh where he was awarded a BA in 1953 and M.Ed. in 1967. In 1975 he was a student in the International Graduate Summer School program at Oxford University, England. Wilson taught social studies at Cheyenne Mountain High School from 1968 to 1987. He was a longtime member of: First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge (Wilson Lodge 714), Scottish Rite Consistory (Valley of Pittsburgh), Al Kaly Shrine, Colorado Springs Shrine Club, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. An avid golfer, Wilson was also a member of the Colorado Springs Country Club for more than 40 years. Wilson leaves behind his beloved wife Gloria with whom he enjoyed over 60 years of marriage, and three sons: George (Peggy), David (June) and Wilson Jr. (Sonia), six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and sister, Fern. He was preceded in death by brothers James and Willis. A celebration of Wilson's life is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m., First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ecumenical Social Ministries, 201 N. Weber St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903; or Springs Rescue Mission, 5 W. Las Vegas St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Life Care Center of Colorado Springs for their professional, compassionate care.
