Yamina Dalton Obituary

Yamina "Mimi" Dalton entered into eternal rest on January 17, 2012 at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her family and friends after a long, 8-month battle with many illnesses. Mimi was born in Damascus, Syria in 1926 to Mohamed & Hadjar Zemori. Mimi moved to Paris, France with her mother at a very young age after her father passed away in the war. From 1931-1940 she attended school at Lycee Victor Drury in Paris. She then attended Ecole Begue in Algiers, Algeria from 1940-1949 where she earned a diploma in stenography. She was working at the Air Force Base in Nouasseur, Morocco as a bookkeeper where she met the love of her life James E. Dalton. They were married at the Rock of Gibraltar on May 5, 1959. She & Jim lived in Casablanca until they moved back to the United States. After many years of military travel, they finally settled in Colorado Springs in 1980. Mimi was a wonderful, loving & giving person and she never met anyone who didn't fall in love with her beautiful smile and generous, happy spirit. Mimi was an amazing cook and enjoyed reading mystery novels. She loved all animals, especially her poodles Nicole, Babbette, Jacques & Coco. Mimi is survived by her best friend & loving husband, James E. Dalton; sister-in-law Jeanie Isaacs of Daytona Beach, Florida; cousins John B. Dennis, Phyllis Davis, Pat Norris & Nancy Dunn all of Knoxville, TN; Charles Reinhardt of Stone Mountain, GA; great-nieces Lisa Hernandez (Jeff) of Scottsbluff, NE and Jennifer Beverley of Cheyenne, WY and long-time friends, Bill & Solange Lindemann and family of Colorado Springs, CO and Wayne & Jamilla Ralph of Evansville, IN. A memorial service celebrating Mimi's life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012, 2:30pm at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs. Memorials may be made in Yamina's name to the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
