Young-Suk Kang Obituary

Young-Suk Kang, a resident of Colorado Springs for 37 years, passed away on the 10th of May, 2006 at the age of 71. She arrived in the United States from Seoul, Korea in 1966 and moved to Colorado Springs soon afterwards, bringing along one of the city's first Korean families. As a loving wife, she leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Doo-Young Kang of Colorado Springs. As a devoted mother of four, she leaves behind Helen Kim of Commack, NY; David Kang of McLean, VA; Paul Kang of New York City, NY; and Thomas Kang of Boston, MA. She was also the cherished grandmother of six. Young-Suk retired from Emerson Junior High School in School District 11 where she worked for 10 years as a secretary. She previously worked as an Assistant Librarian at the Penrose Public Library for ten years. Young-Suk was a devoted parishioner of the Presbyterian Church and held several leadership positions, in which she pioneered roles for Korean women in the church. She was a trained pianist and vocalist, and enjoyed teaching piano lessons privately. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, the 12th of May, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain and Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rev. Hyung Jin Joen and Rev. Chang-Hyo Lee, both of the Korean Baptist Church, will preside over the services. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
