YunJin Lyso Obituary

The short but love filled life of YunJin Lyso ended on July 13th when she was promoted to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was twenty-five. Born in Seoul, South Korea, YunJin lived with her family in Seoul until she moved to Colorado Springs in 1995 to attend middle school. She first lived with her aunt, Qui Ja Wilkerson and then the Stuart and Nan Thomas family while attending Colorado Springs School from grades 8 through her high school graduation. YunJin then attended Colorado College where she received her BA in Comparative Literature and her Elementary Teaching Certification. For the past two years YunJin served in the Christian Ministries office of Seoul Foreign School in Seoul, Korea. Through her incredible smile, positive outlook and wonderful sense of humor she endeared herself to all with whom she worked, young and old alike. She was committed to serving Christ wherever the opportunity existed, leading youth groups and Christian retreats, discipling students and counseling those who were hurting. Her love for the Lord was contagious, and her love for all of God's humanity was obvious. YunJin loved art, music, playing the piano, painting, drawing, as well as teaching and learning from all the children she worked with in Colorado and Seoul. She was an inspiration to her family and friends who are better for having known her and grateful for the time they had with her. On June 23rd of this year she married Amos Alan Lyso. They had been married only twenty days when she passed away. Despite the brevity of their marriage, their love for each other and their commitment to serving Christ together were clear. YunJin is survived by her husband, Amos; her father, Soo Keun Oh; her mother Inhee Kang; her brother, Doo Hwan Oh; two uncles, Boo Keun Oh and Chang Keun Oh; and three aunts, Mi Ja Oh, Pamela Clarkston and Qui Ja Wilkerson. In addition, the Thomas family--Stuart, Nan, Lauri, Jeff and Jenni--mourn the loss of their little one.

We will greatly miss Yun Jin, she always brought a smile to our face. Even though our son was small when we lived in Korea, he loved Yun Jin. She was one of the only people that he would walk to when he began to walk. We are so sad for your loss Amos. Let us know if you need anything. Matthew, Melissa and Joshua Kolbo
