Yvonne Brown Obituary
Mrs. Brown was born September 22, 1930, in Albion,
Nebraska, to Ben and Pearl (Henrichs) Kolm.
She was married on July 18, 1954, in Colorado Springs to Jack M. Brown, who passed away in 2008.
She is survived by a son, Gary D. (Diane) of Monument, Colorado, and a son, Deron M. Brown of Puyallup, Washington, a daughter, Jacquelyn Lloyd (Scott) of Denver, a sister, JoAnn Bochnak, and a brother, Louis Kolm, both of Colorado Springs, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack. Mrs. Brown had lived in the area since 1959, and had also lived in Nebraska and Pennsylvania.
She was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. She belonged to P.E.O. Chapter K, the Manitou Springs Women's Club, and was a member of Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of women
educators.
Mrs. Brown attended Wayne Teacher's College in Nebraska, and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from the University of Colorado.
She taught school in Nebraska for six years, married and raised a family for sixteen years, and taught in Manitou Springs Elementary School for 21 years before retiring in 1991.
A memorial service and celebration of Yvonne Brown's life will be held December 29th at 1:00pm at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church with Pastor James Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 North 31st Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.

I was shocked to get your mothers Christmas card I had sent, returned today. Decided to try Google to get some information. This was what I found. So sorry to hear this. Had really been thinking about her because our high school 70th alumni is coming up in June. Joan will you have time to send me more information. Saying goodbye is never easy, but remembering all the wonderful things about my Aunt Yvonne is easy. She was a great lady and my Godmother. Will miss you!

I did not know your mother,Gary, but her smile says it all, such a wonderful smile! I didn't know she had taught school, so much you learn about people after they have gone. I do know the kind of son she raised, Gary Brown, and you are the epitome of what all mothers want their sons to be- good, kind, loyal and a great father and husband and friend. I am a member of Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. I have known your mother, grandmother, great-grandmother for many years. For the last few years, I picked Yvonne up to take her to the Rho meetings. I enjoyed her so much and will miss her greatly.
