Zachary Cruise Obituary

Zachary was a very special person to me, he was my only blood related nephew and my namesake. I loved him from the moment we met and throughout his life. He always made me feel so important by introducing me or referring to me as his “Uncle John”. His smile could warm your heart and brighten your day. He was so full of energy and strength. It was such a joy to be around him. His love for his daughter Kylie was so exceptional, warm and protective. I have so many loving memories to reflect back on but I will always have a special hurt in my heart until we meet again.

I know you are in a beautiful place. We will miss your happy face and your caring for others. You were always there for Uncle John and me when we needed a little extra help. Our prayers go with you to your new home in Heaven and that you will be watching over Kylie and your family here on earth. Until we meet again.

Dear Cruise Family:
Family and friends can give us a degree of comfort. At times, however distress are beyond human remedies. Only God can give us comfort regardless of how distressing our situation may be. His word assures us He is near and hears our cry for help. (Psalm 145:18-19) But to receive Gods support and comfort, we must place our trust in him and he will become a secure height for anyone crushed, a secure height in times of distress, he will certainly not leave those looking for him.(Psalm 9:9-10) ~MS,Phoenix Arizona

Zorene, Kylie and all of your dear family, our hearts are heavy for the loss of Zachary! After yesterday's beautiful memorial, amid the laughter as well as the tears of grief, and after the lovely and loving and joyful gathering of family and dance friends and family, I thought, as hard as it was for Zack to go, thank God we know where he has gone! It is hard to feel right now, but God is good, all the time! Praying for you all the strength to bear this difficult burden and to heal through it, in your own time, in joy. So sorry for your loss. Even though i havent seen him in years the time i got to hang out with was such a blast!! He could make anyone laugh! And racing street bikes and riding dirt bikes with him was so much fun!! He will be missed!!

Zach- I loved every moment we spent together from new cars and fresh starts to "Ong Bok" and "The Spirit Keeper," late nights, electric lemonade, morning cups of coffee and anytime dance parties. The way we challenged each other and you made me feel so alive. Young love, The only Christmas spent away from my family and how you made me feel at home anyways. New Years and a birthday I will never forget because you made it so special. You made me feel like a million bucks on my worst day and loved me when it was hard to. And I loved you fiercely. You will always hold a special place in, and a piece of my heart. To Zorene, Kylie, Cliff, Norman, and the Kovach family- my deepest sympathy from the bottom of my heart- I will always cherish the time I spent with your family.

Dear Zorene....My daughter, Addie, danced at your studio 20 years ago when she was three. I remember that you thought she looked like Zach when he was three. You even showed her a picture of Zach and asked her who it was and she replied, "Me!" Such a sweet memory. Five years ago, my son, Tyler, died at 23 years of age. My heart knows this grief journey intimately. Continue to keep your eyes on our Saviour and walk in faith. Herein lies our hope that someday we will feel peace and joy again this side of Heaven. Although our family did not know Zach for years and years it sure felt like it. He made others feel welcome. His perpetual smile and uplifting spirit will always be remembered. I'm sure he is up in heaven cracking jokes and smiling down on all of us. I can still hear him telling Shelby to "talk like a troll". You will be missed greatly by everyone.

I had the priviledge of "bunking out" at Zorene's when I returned to Colorado Springs 2 years ago..Zach was an amazing father to his daughter...I thought in today's hectic society, she is very blessed to be loved so much.
She was always # 1 in his life.
In the end of Zach's time here on Earth, he was not alone..When a person says "the angels came and took him", it's not just sentiment. It's Scripture-based.Jesus says that when Lazarus died, He "was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom" (Luke16:22)
Thus, we have it on the authority of Jesus Himself that God sends His angels to usher believers into eternity( the third heaven) where Jesus lives, in an incredible stretch of atmosphere from the Earth.Angels take us to heaven so we wont have to make the journey alone.God sends His heavenly escorts to lead us home.

Zach, I didn't know you on a personal level, but I did know enough about you from seeing you on and off over the past 7+ years. I knew that you loved Kylie with all your heart and that she was your world. I knew that you loved to make people laugh, and that you had a contagious laugh and smile yourself. I knew that you loved your mama and would do anything for her. I knew that you were a good friend to many. Rest in peace Zach, you will be missed. So many memories!! From the time I was 9 and I had the pleasure of being paired with him when two stepping-and yes he would yell at me when I stepped on his toes...later as we grew a little older and we TP'd my grandmas house...all the times we'd get in trouble with z and Zach had a way of making her laugh in the middle of the lecture...more recently watching him light up whenever Kylie was with him and also all the laughs he and Greg had as DU prop daddy's! Gonna miss you Zach!!

So sorry for this heart breaking loss. My family and I have fond memories of Zach hanging out with George around our houses. May you find the strength you need to get by, day by day.
