Rodolfo P. Osano, known as "Rudy," entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2024 in Ventura, California. Rudy was born on January 25, 1933 in the town of San Matias, Dingle, Iloilo Philippines to Gorgonio and Candida Osano. After graduating from high school in the Philippines, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 and served for 22 years, earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer. While in the Navy, he served at various duty stations around the country, did tours in Vietnam, and visited many countries while serving on numerous ships such as the Midway, Kitty Hawk and the Ticonderoga,
While still in the Navy and stationed at Port Hueneme, Rudy and his family fell in love with the city of Ventura. In 1975, they bought a home and moved from Chula Vista, CA to Ventura, where they have lived for 49 years. With three children in school, retirement did not last long – Rudy began working for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1995.
Spending time with his family was his favorite activity, whether it be family trips, camping,
cookouts at the beach or visiting relatives and friends. Rudy joined various organizations including the Knights of Columbus in Ventura. He was a founding member of the Dingle Circle International, a service organization which helped to raise money for scholarships and provided aid to their hometown of Dingle in the Philippines. He took joy in simple things like cooking, fishing, bowling, gardening, and the occasional trip to a casino.
Rudy leaves a lasting legacy of love and loyalty to his family and friends and will be terribly missed by all who know him. Rudy was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Aida; their children Ro Osano, Ike Osano, and Rhoda (Alvin) Tolosa and beloved granddaughters Alexi, Allyn and Alisann as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rudy is preceded in death by his parents Gorgonio and Candida; brothers Eduardo, Morit, Gaudencio, Nestor and sister Editha Camanay.
