Bill Hulshof Obituary

William (Bill) Hulshof, 85, of Albany, Oregon passed away on August 10, 2025, at home with his family.

Bill was born in Pierre, South Dakota on December 3, 1939, the first child of William and Dorothy Hulshof. He lived in Mission, South Dakota until 1944 when the family moved to Albany, which remained his home for most of his life.

He graduated from Albany Union (now West Albany) High School in 1958. While in high school, Bill was a Boy Scout, reaching the rank of Eagle. He was also a member of the school debate team, band, orchestra, and the church youth group.

He attended Southern Oregon College, where he met and married Chrystine Camp. They both graduated in 1964. His degree was in business administration.

After college, Bill returned to Albany where he worked as a senior accountant for the city. He also worked for Grange Oil and Cascade TBA before taking a position as grants manager at Linn Benton Community College. During his long tenure there, he was promoted to senior accountant and later office manager. He later worked for Washington Mutual bank as a records manager, where he was named department employee of the year twice. He retired in 2002.

Bill was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, which he joined in 1953. He served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and treasurer. He was also a member of Albany Kiwanis.

Bill was an active member of the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, serving as an officer for several years. His passion for cars included restoring a 1951 Chevrolet, similar to his high school car, which he named the Green Dragon. Other hobbies included fishing, hiking, computers, and woodworking. He was a fan of the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Louis L'Amour and the music of Elvis Presley.

A man with steadfast dedication to his family, he is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Chrys, eldest son Robert and his husband Seth, younger son Scott and his wife Sherry, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Fisher Funeral Home is making funeral arrangements. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at United Presbyterian Church. Memorial gifts should be made to United Presbyterian Church or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
