Robert Murphy Obituary

Milton, WI - Robert (Bob) John Murphy, 75, of Milton, WI, passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Dementia on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 1, 1950, Bob dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community.

Bob proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972, achieving the rank of SP4. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including his tour in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Following his distinguished military service, Bob continued to serve his community by carrying the American flag in the Color Guard at the beginning of Milton's annual 4th of July parade, as well as participating in the Honor Guard for fallen Veterans for 45 years. Known for his love of his country and his service to all who crossed his path, he left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside.

Bob worked at Spacesaver Corporation of Fort Atkinson for 32 years. Both before and after his retirement, Bob enjoyed hunting, shooting trap, wood working, golfing, auto racing and helping local farmers during planting and harvest season.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Bonnie (Fry) Murphy; his children, John Murphy (Dennis King) and Janelle (Rick) Millard; his sisters, Sue (Bill) Scherwitz and Mary (Jim) Quade and his mother-in-law Beverly (Graskamp) Fry. He is further survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie (Fiedler) Murphy, sisters, Donna (Bob) Farrington, Judy (Bill) Manthey, Nola (Ray) Reilly, Anna Marie Murphy, brother Greg Murphy, his father-in-law Ervin Fry and sister-in-law Colleen Ristau as well as other loved ones. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Milton. Visitation will be Saturday August 9, 2025 from 9am - 12pm, with a mass immediately following. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at St. Mary's Cemetery after mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Veteran's charity of your choice, in Bob's memory. The Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton is assisting the family with arrangements.
