SFC Terry Joe Vickers, (Ret), 74, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 in UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Terry was born in Duval, West Virginia on June 7, 1950, son to the late Thomas Vickers and Sydney McCallister Vickers. SFC Vickers entered the United States Army after completing High School. He served 21 years before retiring in 1991 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He then worked as an over the road truck driver for Snyder trucking for 17 years. He receiving his Two Million Mile Certificate for no accidents when he retired from Snyder trucking. Along with his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Vickers, Lewis Vickers and Michael Vickers.
For his dedicated and honorable service to the US Army, SFC Vickers received the following awards and decorations: the NAM Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Overseas Service Ribbon, (4), NCO Professional Development Ribbon, (3), Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, (6), Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Service Ribbon and the Meritorious Service Medal.
SFC Vickers is survived by his loving wife, Sun Vickers of the home; sisters, Anne Noel Brunswick of Missouri, Sherry Wade of West Virginia and a host of extended family members and friends.
In honor of SFC Vickers Life, Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held, 12:00 Noon, April 7, 2025 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Liberty, NC 28310.
