Sue Lowe Obituary

Sue Ann Lowe
Godfrey - On Thursday, January 30, 2025 Sue Ann (Miller) Lowe passed away quietly in the home that she loved and shared with her husband and five daughters over the past 50 years.
Born in Alton, IL on September 6, 1938, she was the middle child of Herbert and Dorothy (Dean) Miller, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Janis Wendle of Godfrey, IL; and a brother, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Miller of Seattle, WA.
Sue, a devout Catholic, attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Alton from kindergarten through the 9th grade before completing her high school education at Alton Senior High School where she met and fell in love with her husband, Robert "Bob" Lowe. He survives.
After they married, Sue left her childhood home to join her husband, a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. It was there that they welcomed their first child, and their family began to grow. Alton and its history, however, were always important to Sue and so the couple returned to the Alton area along with their daughter to begin building a life, a home, and the rest of their family.
Sue was, above all else, a remarkable, dedicated, and devoted wife and mother. In addition to her sister, brother, and husband, she is survived by her five daughters, Lauren Sabaleski of Shiloh, IL, Gail (Andrew) Tetzlaff of St. Louis, MO, Elaine Beatty of St. Louis, MO, Janis (Nicholas) Northway of Godfrey, IL, and Sarah Lowe of Alton, IL. She also leaves behind nine loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Wendle.
The beautiful St. Mary's Catholic Church has always held a special place in Sue's heart. It is where she had her First Communion, attended Sunday masses and Tuesday night novenas, was married, and even saw two of her five daughters marry there as well. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
