Judy Jordan Obituary

Judy Birdwell Jordan, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully in the morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, leaving many warm memories for her family to hold dear.
Born in Los Angles County, Calif., on Dec. 7, 1950, Judy has always kept a strong love and affection for her home state and family that remained there.
After relocating to the mountains of North Carolina once married, Judy devoted her life to the care of her children, as well as those of her close friends, family and neighbors. She worked as a nursing assistant at nursing homes in this area for much of her career.
Her fondest memories were those she made while bartering at local yard sales and flea markets, and swap stands of her own.
She always put family and the needs of others before herself. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Her love and devotion to her family will be a lasting legacy.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Velmon Lee Birdwell; brother, Leonard Birdwell; son, Daniel Ray Jordan, and sister, Sheila Birdwell Jordan.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Denny Jordan; her four daughters: Darnell Craig (Mark), Deana Jordan (John Hughes), Charlie Boydston (Matthew) and Angela May (Chris); grandchildren: Tyler May (Amanda), Hunter Hughes, Alexis May, Brady Craig and Colby Craig, and great-grandchildren, Hannah May and Daniel May.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Haywood Hospice caregivers and send a special thanks to Erin Ballew and Lindsey Ballew, who cared for Judy in her final weeks.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road.
