Duke Terrence Miller, age 66, passed away peacefully in his home on January 9, 2025, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Born on January 3, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Duke was the cherished son of James "Jim" and Marcia (Blizzard) Miller.
Duke was a rock musician with a lifelong passion for music, which began with his brother and musical mentor, Michael Miller. His passion was playing the bass guitar in the bands Tidal and Backseat Driver. His love for music was matched only by his enjoyment of spending time at his cabin with his brother Scott and his nephew Dylan, where he found peace and joy in the outdoors. Duke was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening. He was an avid fan of Michigan football and the Detroit Lions, and he loved attending games with his family and friends.
Before retiring in 2023, Duke dedicated over 20 years as a technician with Tru-Green, where his expertise and commitment left a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Duke was preceded in death by his father, James "Jim" Miller; and his brother, Michael Miller. He is survived by his loving son, Duke J. (Kari) Miller; and his grandchildren, Penelope and Wilhelmina; his mother, Marcia; his brother, Scott Miller; his sister, Laurie (Robert) Bogner; and his seven adored nieces and nephews: Brian, Jennifer, Emily, Amanda, Carly, Hannah and Dylan. Duke's legacy of love, music and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life in Grand Haven is being planned for sometime in the spring or summer. Details will be announced at a later date. The family invites all who knew Duke to join in honoring his memory and celebrating a life well lived.
