XENIA — Blanche Irene (Wilson) Mayo, age 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Blanche is the daughter of William Elden and Gertrude E. (Byrd) Wilson. She was the loving wife of Terry Mayo, Sr. for 62 years and the mother of Terry Jr. and grandmother of Kara Melton. She was one of 9 children, having 4 brothers and 4 sisters. In addition to her husband, son and granddaughter, Blanche is also survived by two brothers, Moe (Annabelle) Wilson and Mike (Cherie) Wilson; 3 sisters and 2 sisters-in-law: Marilyn Hall, Sandra Chandler, Brenda (Martin) Russell, Carolyn Wilson, and Jamie Wilson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Blanche was a faithful member of the Middle Run Baptist Church in Xenia. She was a devoted servant on the Usher Board. Blanche loved traveling as a chaperone/supporter of the Central State Choir, attending softball tournaments a with her mom and siblings and finding the best yard sales with her sister-in-law: Annabelle. Blanche visited many foreign countries and also was privileged to meet US President Bill Clinton. Blanche had a special place in her heart for her puppies. She worked at Central State University as the Vice President, Administrative Support Services for many years. She loved the students and had many friends who loved her. Blanche was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister: Shirley Hoosier; two brothers: William Arthur and Donald Boyd Wilson; and many members of the Mayo family. Blanche will be missed by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, her personal care giver, Missy Fisher, neighbors, CSU friends and relatives from both sides of her family. The family gives their sincere thanks to all the many friends and relatives who prayed for and loved her. A gathering for friends and family will be held 11 AM Thursday, February 22nd at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with a time of reflection beginning at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central State University in honor of Blanche. Online expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.

Blanche and I attended CSU during the years of 1974-1976. She was wonderful and beautiful person. RIP Blanche and God Speed to the entire Mayo and Wilson family...
