Walter Burton Obituary

GREENSBORO WALTER Kenton (Kent) Burton, 32, passed away in the comfort of his family on November 24,2015. A family service was held on Saturday at the family plot.Kent spent his life in Jamestown, where he graduated from Ragsdale High School in 2002. Agifted athlete and lover of all things aquatic, he went on to become a commercial diver. Kentwas born October 21, 1983 to Walter and Joyce Burton in Chicago, Ill. The oldest of four boys,he had piercing blue eyes, an infectious laugh, witty sense of humor, and an enormous heart.He lived his life with passion and drive and excelled at everything from writing and reading, toswimming, cycling, and running. He exhibited a love for his family that knew no bounds andopened his heart to countless individuals, all of whom will go on to carry his spirit and passion forward in his honor and memory.Surviving Kent are his mother and father, Joyce Mohn Burton and Walter Kirkwood Burton;brothers, Dr. Matthew Scott Burton (and sister-in-law Addison Cammer Burton) of Roanoke,VA, Jason Michael Burton (and sister-in-law Maria Sadler Burton) of Raleigh, NC, and ChadElliott Burton of Blacksburg, VA. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Phyllis Sechrest ofColfax, NC, and Dorothy Mohn of Girard, OH; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Healing Place of Wake County - HealingTransitions, 1251 Goode Street, Raleigh, NC 27608.
