February 2, 1932 - February 10, 2025

Rea Del Virt, 93, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Blue Mound, IL, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025.

A service to honor Rea's life will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. A private burial service will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Blue Mound Memorial Library or Alzheimer's Association.

Rea was born on February 2, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Daniel F. and Opal (Jourdan) Boggs. She married Carrol W. Virt on August 6, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2022. Rea was a bookkeeper and owned her own beauty shop in her home for 10 years in Boody, IL. She was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She also served on the Blue Mound Memorial Library board.

Rea is survived by her children: Daniel Virt (Margaret) of Caldwell, TX, Diana Ritter (Tom) of Blue Mound, IL, Dena Vincent of Fishers, IN and David Virt (Rita) of Cicero, IN; grandchildren: Dean Mathiews, Danyell Brenner (Julia Vandrak), Christina Turngren (Kyle), Cory Ritter (Jan), Cole Ritter (Ashleigh), Cale Ritter, Austin Vincent (Sonya), Ryan Vincent (partner Thurston Smalley), Ethan Virt and Dillon Virt; great grandchildren: Celia Ritter, Harper Ritter, Reece Ritter, Ryden Ritter, Liaam Virt, Chelsea Mathiews, Roger Myers and Lauren Mathiews; great-great granddaughter: Amelia Arellano; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Mel Boggs, sister: Janet Hullinger, grandson: Andrew Virt and granddaughter: Cathy Lynn Henderson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible staff at Randall Residence and to Elara Hospice for their loving care.

I remember Rea from when I grew up in Boody and played with Janet. I knew Carrol and also went to Zion Chapel. Sending my condolences to her family.
