BETHANY - Walter Dean McReynolds, 81, of Bethany, passed away 1:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, September 27, 2024, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany, with Military Rites by the Stewardson American Legion Wilbur Braughton Post #611. Memorials may be made to the Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church: 219 S. Lincoln St. Bethany, IL 61914
Dean was born on March 6, 1943, in Bethany; the son of Robert Merle "Johnny" and Frances Helen (Daum) McReynolds. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Dean married Janette Kay Beals on May 24, 1969, in Charleston; she survives. He was a member and Elder of the Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dean was also a member of the American Legion Wilbur Braughton Post #611 in Stewardson. He loved his grandchildren and farming.
Dean is survived by his wife, Janette of Bethany; children: Adam Dean (Leslie) McReynolds of Trilla, Alisha Janette McReynolds of California and Aaron Dale (Candace) McReynolds of Sullivan; grandchildren: Holly Kathryn McReynolds of Charleston, Avery Robert McReynolds of California and Burton Anthony McReynolds Sullivan; brother, Lloyd Wayne McReynolds of Bethany; sister, Martha (Mike) Carroll of Bethany; brother-in-law, Morris Luck of Bethany; sister-in-law, Sheila McReynolds of Bethany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marjorie Luck and brother, Tom McReynolds.
