Anthony Tate Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Tate was born December 20, 1955, to Fred and Sue Tate in St. Helena, CA and passed away on July 6, 2025 at the age of 69 in his home in Tulelake, CA.

In 1965, Tony and his parents moved to Tulelake, were he met his lifelong friend Mayson Haynes, who became like a brother to him. Once Tony's dad took over the Tulelake Reporter, Tony started his career in printing. Tony worked with his dad at the newspaper, setting up and running the line-a-type and printing press. Once the paper was out, he would go over and "work", hang out, with Red at Butler Machine. Prior to and after retiring from Smith Bates Printing, Tony kept Red's legacy alive by running Butler Machine.

Tony married Debbie Sutton on August 21, 1982, and blended their families. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, shooting sporting clays, and going wood cutting. Tony even helped run the Sheepy Ridge range for years. Trips to the Medicine Lake area were always a favorite, especially when bragging rights were involved. Tony and Red would regularly try to be the first ones to the lake in the old '42 Dodge WC53 Carryall. In recent years, you could catch Tony transporting co-workers or the Mayor through the Tulelake parade in the '42 Dodge.

Tony leaves behind his wife Debbie of 42 years; his sister Tammy (Daryl) Beenken; son Cory Sutton, daughter-in-law Angela, grandson Gage; son Jason Tate and grandsons; daughter Dianna Dickens, son-in-law Brian, grandkids Enoch and Kyli (Keaton); and youngest daughter Melissia Yocom, and grandkids Logan and Senna; mother-in-law Quepha Arnold, brother-in-law David (Tracy) Arnold, brother-in-law Don (Terri) Arnold, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Sue Tate, sister Debbie and father-in-law David "Ronny" Arnold.

Tony's celebration of life will be August 2 at 1pm at the home economics building at the Tulelake Butte Valley Fairgrounds.
