I had Ted for multiple classes as a sociology major from 1967-71. He was always available to talk, and he exuded kindness and wisdom. I pray for peace and comfort for all of his family and friends.

Sarah and Peter, I am so very sorry to hear about your father. I was a student at LRU from 1982-1985. I tried to take any class I could get that your dad taught. As a matter of fact, I asked him to marry me and my fiance and he was going to be out of town on our wedding date. Then, I started teaching at St Stephens and I got to know both of his children. What a small world. Your dad was a great man and highly respected by all the lives he touched. Kim Bolick

We recall with great appreciation the strong and positive impact Ted had on students, the Lenoir-Rhyne community, the Hickory community and the Church. He was a gentle man of wisdom and kindness whom we will miss. We send our sympathies and love to his family.

I met Ted when I was an adult student in his Marriage and Family class at Lenoir Rhyne. Later we were colleagues when I became adjunct faculty in Psychology. Ted was a major influence on me - I wish I had told him so. His wisdom and compassion were unmatched. In fact, I always tried to interact with my own students in the way that he modeled. He respected each one, was always interested in what each had to say, and could be depended upon to offer steady counsel. Chaplain Don and I both thought so highly of him. I will miss him. My sympathy to Mary, Peter, and Sarah.
