Liliane d'Ornano Obituary

Liliane d'Ornano, 88, of Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025.

Liliane was born on January 2, 1937, to Count Marco d'Ornano and Agathe Andarelli d'Ornano. She grew up in Corsica and pursued her studies in Aix en Provence and Marseille, France. Liliane was always intrigued by science and her studies entailed a pre-medical focus. She began her career as a research assistant at C.N.R.S., where Liliane met her husband, Thomas Emery. They were married on March 16,1962. After marrying, the couple moved to the United States. Liliane continued her career in research at Yale Medical School, where she worked as a research assistant. In 1970, Liliane and Thomas moved to Utah, where she remained until her passing. In 1972,Their daughter, Danielle Emery Leuk, joined the family. Danielle was the joy of their lives and Liliane decided to leave her life of research and love for science, so that she could remain at home.

Throughout her life, Liliane had many dogs and cats, all of whom she loved deeply. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, meaningful conversations and moments she shared with family and friends. In addition to her love for animals, Liliane enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She was a gourmet cook, enjoyed traveling and fine wines. Liliane was preceded in death by her parents, Marco d'Ornano and Agathe Andarelli d'Ornano, her husband, Thomas F. Emery, her brother, Bernard d'Ornano and her son in law, Vatana Leuk. She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Emery Leuk, and her granddaughters, Averie Leuk and Brooke Leuk, as well as many extended family members and friends.

At her request, there will be no service or viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cache Humane Society in honor of her love for her cats and dogs, who she is now reunited with.

Lilliane was one of the first people who befriended me when Mike and I moved to Shadow Mountain. We often visited about our family. I remember her walking down to meet her grandchildren when they got off the school bus. She was a kind, beautiful lady and I will miss her.
