DANVILLE, KY— Moses Bentley, age 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the home of his
son in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ines Bentley, five
brothers, John, Will, Paul, James, and Daniel Bentley, and four sisters, Renda Lykins, Fronia Brown,
Geneva Cate, and Rose Lee Bush. Beloved father of Debbie (Larry) Mersfelder, Sondra Bentley, and Jeff
(Amy) Bentley; grandfather of Felicia (Paul) Hall, Jonathan Bentley, Brent Mersfelder, Larry (Tiffany)
Mersfelder III, Derek (Danielle) Singleton, Jordan (Jacob) Hayes, Erica (Chris) Rapp, Bryce (Mikenna
Prescott) Bentley, and Blake Bentley. He leaves his legacy further with 13 great grandchildren (Kiley, Kyler,
Braiden, Blake, Missi, Baylee, Matthew, Gabby, Eli, Maddi, Elena, Kyle, and Cash). He is also survived by
his siblings Bernice (Jim) Cornett of Milford, DE, Glenda (David) Poplin of Argillite, KY, and Vonnie Bentley
of Alexandria, KY.
Moses loved his family and always found joy in family gatherings. He enjoyed nature; especially feeding
his squirrels. He was a sports fanatic, with his loyalty always being with the University of Kentucky. He
was a graduate of the Kentucky School of the Deaf (KSD) in Danville, KY, and was inducted into the
basketball Hall of Fame at KSD. He was able to enjoy his Kentucky Derby one last time.
There will be a private inurnment with his children and siblings at the Moses Bentley Cemetery. The
family would like to invite all family and friends to the Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at
the Lloyd Fire Station, 3109 Ohio River Road, Lloyd, KY, 41144 from 3pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, please
consider a donation in Moses Bentley's honor to Kentucky for the Deaf Charitable Foundation, Inc.,
