Doyle Ellis Obituary

Doyle Glen Ellis 88, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9th, 2025.

Doyle was born May 14,1936 in Rigby, Idaho to Glen Hyrum Ellis and Jennie Myrle Boyce Ellis, the third of five children. He spent his childhood years in the Grant, Idaho area, his love of driving trucks and tractors started at an early age working on the family farm. He attended schools in Jefferson County, graduating from Rigby High School. On June 22,1956 he married Joyce Oswald in Idaho Falls; they were later divorced. Doyle served in the United Stated Army and remained stateside until he was honorably discharged. He then drove semitrucks for Lewis Grover and Max Kerr. Doyle became a Million Mile Club Member driving for INEL Bus Operations, honored for his outstanding performance in driving 1,000,000 miles without a preventable accident. He also served as treasurer for The Amalgamated Transit Union. Doyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Doyle married Lila Marie Hill on May 8th, 1993. He continued driving for INEL Bus Operations, retiring in 2002 after 30 years. After retirement he continued his passion, driving gravel trucks for Gale Lim Construction. Doyle and Marie enjoyed road trips to Washington, Arizonia and California visiting family and friends. You could always find Doyle in his favorite recliner watching a good western show with a Mt Dew, nibbling on a snickers bar.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Lila Marie Ellis, of Blackfoot, ID; children Randy (Pam) Ellis, of Meridian, ID, Ryan Ellis, of Meridian ID, Jo Nell (Ward) Gardner, of Idaho Falls, ID, Jeffery Lynn Ellis, of Idaho Falls, ID, Stephanie Hill, of Blackfoot, ID, Teresa Ogden, of Garden City, ID, Gregory Ogden (Kathy) of Springhill, TN; twenty two grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dean (Jeannie) Ellis, of Fresno, CA, sister Linda Ellis, of Idaho Falls, ID.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, May 24,2025 at Hawker Funeral Home,132 S Shilling Ave, Blackfoot, ID 83221. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M.to 10:45 A.M. prior to services.
