Kimberly Welsh Obituary

Kimberly Ann Welsh

December 6, 1962 - April 21, 2025

Sweet, Idaho - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kimberly Ann Welsh, a beloved sister, aunt, friend, and community leader, who departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was 62 years old.

Kimberly was born on December 6, 1962, in Boise, Idaho, to Jack and Evelyn Welsh. As the second of four siblings, she spent her early years embracing the natural beauty of her home state, cultivating a deep love for the outdoors. Kimberly's childhood was filled with fond memories of the Idaho mountains, where she enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, and camping with her family and friends.

A graduate of Boise High School in 1981, Kimberly went on to attend Boise State University, where she excelled academically, earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her scholastic achievements earned her a full-ride scholarship to Albany University of New York. With her characteristic fierceness and independence, she drove herself across the country to begin her new chapter on the East Coast.

Kimberly dedicated over 30 years to a distinguished career in investment banking, specializing in municipal bonds. Her excellence in the field was recognized through numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Finance Graduate Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award, and the 2008 Excellence in Business Award.

While living in Manhattan, Kimberly met and married Kenji Freedman. Together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Kassidy Amano Freedman Welsh, on September 18, 1998. Kassidy was the light of Kimberly's life and her greatest joy.

In 2015, Kimberly returned to her Idaho roots, settling in Sweet along the Payette River. Tragically, in August of 2017, Kimberly experienced the devastating loss of Kassidy in a tragic accident. Though deeply heartbroken, she found comfort in the belief that she would be reunited with her daughter in eternity.

Kimberly's enduring strength and compassionate spirit were evident in her lifelong dedication to service. On the East Coast, she championed numerous causes close to Kassidy's heart. Upon her return to Idaho, Kimberly remained active in her community, establishing a scholarship through the Boise State University Foundation in her daughter's honor. She served with distinction on the BSU Alumni Association board and was a proud supporter of Bronco Athletics, holding season tickets for many years.

Kimberly also contributed meaningfully to the small town of Horseshoe Bend, where she was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She played a pivotal role in securing a sidewalk grant for schoolchildren's safety and was instrumental in the creation of the community's Veterans Memorial Park.

Known for her adventurous spirit, Kimberly found joy in riding her Harley and taking side-by-side trips with family and friends. She enjoyed the game of Pickleball and cherished playing with friends in Idaho and Arizona. Kimberly was most content when outdoors, especially under the warmth of the sun, surrounded by those she loved.

Kimberly is survived by her siblings: Jackie Meyer (Andy), Jason Welsh (Amanda), and John Welsh (Roxanne), as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Her radiant smile, warm heart, and unwavering loyalty to family and community will be missed beyond measure.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In memory of Kimberly's life and legacy, donations may be made to the Kassidy Amano Freedman Welsh Scholarship (https://bit.ly/KimberlyWelsh) or to the Horseshoe Bend Veterans Memorial Park.

Kimberly was a bright shining light in all of our lives. The radiant smile that you see in this photo is the vision that is a permanent memory in my mind. Life won't be quite the same at Cocopah, and every time I pass by the pickle ball courts, I'm sure I'll think of you!

Where do you start with this amazing beautiful soul...Kimberly and I had only recently met this 2024/25 season at Cocopah. She was the brightest light of my winter there. We spent many hours talking during her last 2 wks there and helping her every day then getting mobile after her return from the back surgery. She would say to me everyday "girlfriend there is something so special about you". I'd just reply thankyou as I had no idea what she ment. I just felt so blessed to have her a part of my life for the short time this winter. Rest in peace my beautiful angel and I know your dancing and laughing everyday with Kassidy again now
