Ralph Haber Obituary

Ralph was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the eldest son of William and Fannie Haber. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lyn, his brother Alan (Odile), and his children: Sabrina (Robert), Rebecca (Chris), Molly, Eric, Belinda and Andrew (Asynthe). He was the proud grandfather to Gabriel, Marin, Eli, Asa, Dakota, Isa, Eleanor, Ruby and Lou.
Ralph graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, and earned his PhD in psychology from Stanford University. He had a distinguished career teaching at Yale University, the University of Rochester and retired from the University of Illinois as professor emeritus in 1994. Over his lifetime, he wrote 8 books, published over 350 scientific articles and chapters, and testified in over 200 criminal and civil cases as an expert witness in eyewitness identification, fingerprint identification, memory and human factors.
In addition to his love of science, cognitive psychology and the law, Ralph loved the Eastern Sierra. He and Lyn eagerly looked forward to their hiking and backpacking trips every summer. Ralph happily shared his knowledge and love of maps, camping, and the backcountry. With Lyn's gardening genius, they created their own paradise in the mountains of California. Ralph loved to entertain friends and family at his home. His family remembers his ability to tell fascinating tales, build and fix anything, his love of adventures and his uncanny ability to always know exactly where he was.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the University of Michigan, Department of Economics.
A memorial gathering will be held at Ralph and Lyn's home on Thursday July 3, at 5:30pm at 313 Rimrock Drive, Swall Meadows. Please come.

I am blown away!

A week ago I had a successful eye surgery which at the ripe old age of 69 has been a game changer!

So tonight I was thinking that this scientific experiment is something I would have just loved to have shared with my absolute favorite professor back when I was a student at the University of Rochester studying the "Psychology of Visual Perception" in the 1970s.

I hadn´t thought of Dr Haber in many years, frankly.

It was so long ago. Life gets in the way of these things.

But his powerful presence came to me like a tidal wave tonight.

So I thought gee - I should google him & see where he´s at today!

I was simply STUNNED to come across this obituary & to learn that he JUST PASSED!

The timing was so absurdly ridiculously supernatural that I immediately became plastered with goosebumps from head to toe as his essence & presence came over my soul in an ineffable encounter with the other side.

In complete shock from stumbling on this bizarre coincidence I heard a voice in my head tell me to share with Dr Haber´s loved ones: "I AM MORE ALIVE THAN EVER!!!!!!"

Lots of love to you all; I feel I have been touched by an Angel!

Please accept this message in the spirit of overwhelming love with which I was bathed as I experienced this.

There are no "coincidences."
