Warren Taylor Obituary

Warren Donald Taylor, 100, son of Jacob "J.D." and Ina (Shinneman) Taylor, was born on March 24, 1924, at home in rural Hammond and peacefully passed into eternal life on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home in Monticello.

Warren married Helen "Eileen" Snoke on November 15, 1952, in Decatur, who passed away on October 17, 2022. Warren was a lifelong farmer in the Cerro Gordo and Hammond areas for over 50 years. After retiring from farming, they made their home in Monticello, IL.

Warren was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, Piatt County Farm Bureau, Piatt County Drainage Ditch Commissioner, and was a Lifelong Master Mason and Shriner. Warren loved following Fighting Illini Sports and was an avid fan. Warren loved sitting outside and garnered the nickname "Wavin' Warren" from some of his neighbors. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Warren leaves behind his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Fay of Edgewater, FL; son, Doug (Linda) Taylor of Monticello; grandsons, Kyle (Brittany) Taylor of Monticello and Matt (Nicolette) Fay of Minneola, FL; great-granddaughters Madelyn and Harper Taylor; great-grandsons Jordan Taylor and Wesley Fay; and a sister Juanita "Tootie" Flaugher of Mt Zion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eileen; brothers Laird, Jack, Richard, Robert, and Ivan; sisters, Helen Dunn, and Donna Jean Bell; and grandson Joshua Portwood.

Visitation will be 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Monticello United Methodist Church, 2020 E Washington St, Monticello, IL, with Masonic Rites to follow at 10:20 AM. A Funeral will follow the rites at 10:30 AM and burial at Cerro Gordo Cemetery.

Memorials in Warren's honor may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Taylor family would like to thank Warren's doctors and caregivers for all of their dedication and attention.
