Abigail Jean Sauerhoefer
Sauerhoefer, Abigail Jean, 17, of Broad Brook passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, surrounded by her family. Abby's life was full of love and purpose. Everyone who knew her couldn't help being drawn into her loving spirit. She was truly an Angel on Earth. She loved listening to music, being read to, going to school, equestrian therapy, dance classes and recitals. She enjoyed adventures to the zoo, museums, movies, musicals, and family trips to the Outer Banks and Disney. Abby most enjoyed family gatherings with her cousins being part of the commotion and their shenanigans. She was the inspiration for the Abby's Helping Hand foundation that has helped many families with chronic illnesses. She even brought a community together, attracting hundreds to the annual Walk for Abby.
Abby is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Helen Kessler. She is survived by parents Carol and Joe, brother Timmy and his fiancé Mary along with paternal grandparents John and Pat Sauerhoefer, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
We'd like to thank the Special Education team of East Windsor Public Schools, her amazing team of doctors and nurses at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and the team of Kids Space in South Windsor who provided her with the therapy and support she needed for most of her life. We especially thank Abby's school nurses Laura and Cindy who loved and cared for her like she was their own daughter.

Relatives and friends may join the family from 3 p.m.-7 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 23, 2025, at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Fri. Jan. 24, 2025. at St. Philip Church (St. Marianne Cope Parish), 150 S. Main (Rt. 5) Street, East Windsor. (Please meet at church)
