Aunt Diane! She never pretended to be perfect. That's what I liked about her. That quality made her a really good, empathetic listener. She always seemed to understand. She'd let me complain a while, then she'd add her good story to the conversation-- a story that let mr know she understood, and it usually had something funny to it, something to make me laugh and change my mood.
She found sweet ways to connect with me. She was what I call a flower friend. She enjoyed sharing cuttings and letting me dig up some sprigs to take home to plant in my flower beds.
I remember taking my time to pick out a mug for the day to sip coffee or hot tea with her.
A few things though stand out from the rest that have made her a true role model. I don't know anyone who has cared for the elderly like she did. Without hesitation she has taken the elderly in her home and done the hardest things. As Andy says, "In real life, she took care of everybody."
Best of all-- She loved Jesus. She still does! She never liked missing a chance to get to church and worship God. And now she's with Him face to face. She wants all of us to have that hope: of living in a beautiful place forever with our good God, and enjoying that with her! And I like to imagine we'll be enjoying good food together at her table and sharing flowers again. --Love, Rhoda Davis, niece
