Mary Arnel Obituary
July 6, 1937 - August 21, 2025
Augusta, Kansas - Mary "Karen" Arnel, 88, of Augusta, KS, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at home. Graveside service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Maple Grove Cemetery, 1000 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS. Mary was born in Wichita, KS on July 6, 1937, to the late Mary Ellen (Sidey) Sampson and Otis Cummins. She worked at IBM for many years, retiring as an Advisory Account Systems Engineer. Karen was a member of the DAR and she and James had also been a part of a few bridge and retiree groups. A lifelong learner, Karen enjoyed reading and taking classes. She also enjoyed music and attending her grandchildren's events. On June 5, 1955 she married James Edward Arnel who survives her. She is also survived by: son, Kevin Arnel and wife Roxanne of Augusta, KS; daughter, Kevette Lester and husband Jerry of Winfield, KS; grandchildren, Jamie Arnel (Tiffany) of Derby, KS, and Weston Arnel (Isabella) of Wichita, KS; 5 great grandchildren. Memorial donations to Augusta Senior Center, 640 Osage Augusta, KS 67010.
