Charles Loren Winter

Olathe, Kansas - Charles "Chuck" Winter, 68, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2025. Born in Garden City on April 25, 1956, Chuck was a lifelong Kansan, a dedicated accountant, and a devoted family man. After earning an accounting degree from Kansas State University, he returned to his hometown, where he met his wife, Mary Ellen. They married on June 10, 1989, raised their 3 children in Olathe, and later celebrated the joys of three grandchildren.

A passionate golfer and sports enthusiast, Chuck relished fishing, cheering for K-State, and watching Chiefs football with family at Austin's Bar and Grill. Known for his dry wit and analytical mind, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jeanne (Gatschet) Winter. Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; children Shannon (Jon), Dianne (Brian), and Steven; and grandchildren Charlotte, Adam, & Eleanor. He is also survived by all three of his siblings Mary (Jim), T.K., and Michel (Emmett).

Visitation & Rosary were held on February 24 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass on February 25 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with burial at St. Bonafice Cemetery. The family invites friends and loved ones to gather at Austin's Bar and Grill at 2 p.m. to share a meal and memories of a truly remarkable man.
