E. Anderson Obituary

E. Ingrid Anderson

Weathersfield, VT - E. Ingrid Anderson, 83, died at home on January 1, 2025 after a period of declining health. Nee Elaine C. Anderson, she was born September 3, 1941 in Gardner, MA, a daughter of Dorothy (McCarthy) and Paul Anderson. She attended Gardner schools then graduated from Fitchburg State College and Burbank Hospital School of Nursing with a BS and RN. She was married to Robert T. Francoeur and had three children; the marriage later ended in divorce. She moved to the Upper Valley in the late 1970's and lived in Weathersfield for the past 36 years. She changed her name to Ingrid in honor of her Swedish heritage.

Ingrid worked for many years as an RN, Director of Nursing and/or Administrator in various care homes in New England. In 1979 she purchased Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Windsor, VT and served as its Administrator as well as an RN. While there she implemented numerous innovative activities and programs for the residents and did all she could to make it a real home for them. After selling the home in 1988, she worked as RN in several area facilities, including Springfield Hospital, and as a consultant or interim administrator at others. Nursing was a true calling for Ingrid; she touched the lives of so many, especially elders.

For health reasons she had to leave her profession early but then took an active role as a volunteer for many area organizations including the Vermont Statewide Independent Living Council , Red Cross, RSVP and New Beginnings. She was given the Governor's Service Award in "recognition of valuable contributions to older persons and persons with disabilities" in 2002.

Ingrid enjoyed birding and wildlife watching, gardening, cooking and baking - she was known for her Swedish braids and holiday cookies. She was a huge fan of Dartmouth's women's hockey team, attending virtually every home game and many away games for years until health prevented her from continuing.

Ingrid was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Suzanne Lauer. She is survived by her life partner of 44 years and spouse, Debra Diegoli of Weathersfield; her children, Renee Francoeur of White River Junction, Jacqueline (Michael) Binder of Moorestown, NJ and Robert J. Francoeur of Weathersfield; her brothers Paul and Jon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her dog Abby and cats Sam, Sasha and Ziggy. She is also survived by her "second son" Adam Perron of Windsor and friends, neighbors and helpers Pam and Floyd Buck of Weathersfield. Ingrid and her family greatly appreciated the friends and relatives who visited and who helped with her care, and the folks from Bayada Hospice, especially Jeanne, Connie and Jenny.

Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or Bayada Home Health Care. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I, too, always felt love and light radiating from Ingrid whenever I was around her. I´m thankful to my friend Debbie for introducing us. I´m thankful to Pam and Buck and others who helped her so much in her years of need. And I´m thankful that these two extraordinary women had 44 years together.

We met Ingrid and Deb at the hockey games and became part of the "fanatical friends" of the team. My we became one last year and understand grief. I am so sorry for this loss for Deb and her family. I was at the hockey game last night a pictured you both across the way. It made me smile remembering her presence. She will be missed. I wish you peace on this journey with grief.

Grammy Anderson was a tremendous force of love and light for those around her. I'll always cherish her memory and all the things she taught me. She always encouraged me to follow my dreams as an author and it's because of her that I developed such an interest in our Swedish heritage.

Jag älskar dig så mycket, mormor.
